THE TRAVEL MOVIES WE LOVED THE MOST
Hello Traveler Friend! We have created a list of the best movies for you to watch before, after and during a trip. They are very different one from the other, some of them are romantic, others are action, fantasy, sentimental, thriller, mystery, adventure, famous, half-known, old or recent movies. The topic that links them all is travel, it doesn't matter of what kind: long, short, physical, spiritual, by ship, by train, by plane, alone or in company, in war or for love.
We have selected the movies that are most important to us: there are therefore some very famous ones that you will not find in our list, as well as we have left apart those that we have not seen or that we have not particularly liked. We hope you'll appreciate our selection, and that the stories we chose will make you smile, excite and live incredible adventures.

We find Katharine Hepburn in the role of a missionary who, after witnessing the killing of her brother by German soldiers, decides to embark on the "African Queen" with Charlie (Humphrey Bogart), the captain of the small boat, to avenge his brother and fight in the war.
The journey that the two protagonists undertake is not the classic "backpacking and go" holiday, but a real struggle for survival.
Roman Holiday
1953 - comedy, sentimental
Sentimental Comedy directed by William Wyler; it tells the story of how Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn), overwhelmed by royal duties, decides to escape and spend a night in the Holy City. And it is thanks to the nostalgia of their life together that Joanna (Audrey Hepburn) and Mark (Albert Finney) remember why they loved each other so much in the past years.
Back to the Future
1985 - adventure, comedy, science fiction
The first film of the famous trilogy directed by Robert Zemeckis. In this immortal classic Marty McFly (Michael J. In an attempt to return to the present, Marty will perform actions that will risk to irremediably change the course of time.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
1989 - adventure, action, comedy, fantasy
Speaking of travels and adventures, we cannot fail to mention Indiana Jones. Although in all the films the well-known archaeologist, played by Harrison Ford, goes in search of treasures and artifacts around the world, it is in the third chapter that we have the greatest variety of landscapes. Directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg, former director of the first two chapters and creator of the successful saga, in this film, Dr. Jones will find himself experiencing a real adventure around the world, from the United States to Germany, passing through Italy. , until reaching Jordan, with the intention to find his father (Sean Connery), who has mysteriously disappeared during an archaeological search. Titanic
1997 - dramatic, romantic
Describing this film is almost useless. The story of the Titanic is well known to all of us, but we couldn't not include this film on our list.
The Titanic transatlantic, one of the most luxurious cruise ships ever built, sails in 1912 with more than a thousand passengers. The difference between the social classes is evident, but it does not stop Rose and Jack, who fall in love in just a few moments. The journey will end in tragedy, taking the lives of many people and interrupting one of the love stories that most conquered us on the big screen.

In this Italian comedy directed by Silvio Soldini, a housewife neglected by her husband is left at a gas station during a family trip. Then, she decides to change her life by moving to Venice, where she starts working in a flower shop, makes new friends and finds love again.

EuroTrip
2004 - comedy
In this idiotic film directed by Jeff Schaffer, Scott (Scott Mechlowicz) decides to embark on a journey across Europe to reconquer Mieke (Jessica Boehrs), a girl he met online and dumped "by mistake" in a moment of thrill; to accompany him, his ramshackle group of friends. Obviously, nothing will go as planned.

A film to watch for pure enjoyment, without expecting total fidelity to the original work by Verne.
Unleashed on the road
2007 - comedy, adventure, action
Nice direct comedy Walt Becker. The four protagonists (played by John Travolta, Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy), in the midst of a midlife crisis, decide to embark on a motorcycle road trip across the United States. During the journey they will remember the good times of their past and will rediscover the love for adventure, which they had lost with the arrival of adulthood.
Hangover
2009 - comedy
Super funny comedy directed by Todd Phillips, in which a group of friends arrive in Las Vegas to celebrate the wedding of one of them. During the bachelor party, however, something happens that will put the marriage at risk.
In this film, every important event is laughed at, making every moment light and fun. Perfect to watch in company (better not before a wedding!).
Inception
2010 - science fiction, action, thriller, adventure
In this avant-garde film directed by Christopher Nolan, Leonardo DiCaprio plays "Dom" Cobb, an extractor (a professional who deals with entering people's dreams, through a complex machinery, to extract secrets) who will be forced to accept a dangerous mission never made before; he will have to undertake a journey into the subconscious in order to correct the mistakes of the past. The cast also includes Joseph-Gordon Levitt, Tom Hardy, Elliot Page, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy and Michael Caine, an inevitable figure in every director's work. Friend traveler, approach this feature film without the expectation of fully understanding it, as with most of Nolan's films.
Tintin - The secret of the Unicorn
2011 - animation, adventure, action, comedy, espionage
The technique of this film is quite particular, in fact it was created in Motion Capture. While there are no curses or unpleasant terms, it is still a film designed more for adults than anything else. It tells the story of a young reporter, Tintin, who by pure chance comes into possession of a model of a pirate ship, which will take him around the world in search of a mysterious treasure, in the company of the former captain of the ship itself.
Nothing can stop us
2013 - comedy, adventure
We have included in the list another beautiful Italian film, directed by Luigi Cecinelli. Four boys with psychophysical problems are spending the summer in a rehabilitation facility; fed up with everyday life and never having enjoyed life because of their problems, they decide to steal a car and leave for Ibiza. Along the way they will be tested by themselves, learning however to live with their illness and finding (and making) love for the first time.
We would like to tell you, Friend Travel, that this is one of the films we watch most willingly. A story capable of restoring self-confidence, thrilling and entertaining at the same time.
The secret dreams of Walter Mitty
2013 - comedy, fantastic, adventure
Directed and starring Ben Stiller, the film tells the story of Walter Mitty, a gray employee who makes mental journeys very often, dreaming of experiencing exciting adventures and exciting love stories. A mysterious letter, however, will force him to travel around the world to correct a mistake and save his career.
Jumanji - Welcome to the jungle
2017 - adventure, fantasy, comedy, action
The only reason this movie is on the list is because the main character is Dwayne Jhonson, (better known as The Rock), and Desi would never have agreed to publish this article without a hint of her first love. This film is a sequel to the original Jumanji (starring Robin Williams); is directed by Jake Kasdan, and tells of a group of high school students who, trying an old video game, find themselves catapulted into it. Detective Hercules Poirot, who got on the train at the last minute, finds himself imprisoned in his work, after promising himself a long vacation. He doesn't know that this case will stick to him, forever changing his way of seeing things.
Oh Mama! Here we go again
2018 - musical, comedy, romantic, sentimental
Musical film directed by Oliver Parker. Dear traveler friend, if you've seen the first Mamma Mia, you can't miss this sequel / prequel. In fact, the film is a continuous succession of past and future events, telling of the journey undertaken by the young Donna (Lily James) to get to the island of Kalokairi, and at the same time how the hotel has changed since the management passed to Sophie (Amanda Seyfried). On the notes of Abba's songs, a perfect film to watch before a trip, to enter a more adventurous and libertine mood.
Tolo Tolo
2020 - comedy, drama, adventure, sentimental
And finally, another Italian mast, directed and starring Checco Zalone. After the bankruptcy of his restaurant, Checco finds himself overwhelmed by debts, and to escape from creditors he decides to take refuge in Africa. In a moment of madness, he decides to destroy his passport, so that to return to Italy he will have to follow the same route (and struggle) as the immigrants. This is a film, yes, very funny, but it is mainly a mockery of a country (ours) that is still too closed and not very human.
